Following a horrific car accident, Carl Goldberg realized that there was really nothing on the market that would provide adequate protection for his best friend, so with input from a veterinary orthopedic surgeon, he developed the Roadie. Orthopedically sound and ergonomically correct, the patented figure eight one-piece design channels overload forces to your dog's chest, the strongest part of his anatomy. The design was awarded an 18 claim Broad Based Patent in 1996 and Goldberg later received two additional patents.
The harness allows your dog to sit, stand or lie down comfortably while tethered to your vehicle's seat belt system. A short yellow leash is attached to the Roadie. To make sure your dog is secure during an accident or sudden stop, simply pass your vehicle's seat belt through one of the openings on the leash and clip the seat belt buckles together. Need to make a quick pit stop? No problem - the tether doubles as a short walking leash! When not in the car, the tether/leash can be rolled up and secured with a hook and loop closure. Super convenient, use the harness for walking or riding without ever having to switch equipment.
Designed to fit dogs from 3 to 175 lbs, Roadie is not designed to fit skin-tight like other harnesses - a looser fit means your dog is secure but comfortable. To ensure proper sizing, your will need to measure your dog's rib cage circumference. To do this, have your dog stand and measure behind his front legs at the widest or deepest part of his rib cage. Be careful not to put your tape measure under the armpits while taking this measurement. If your dog's rib cage and/or weight is close to the maximum of a size group, go up one size. Remember, Roadie is not designed to fit skin-tight, so it's better to go with the next larger size and tailor the fit using the adjustment strap(s).
